Latin for “Holy.” The Sanctus is the Eucharistic acclamation beginning “Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts,” joining language from Isaiah 6 and the Gospel acclamation at Christ’s entry into Jerusalem. It concludes the Preface and introduces the central portion of the Eucharistic Prayer.
