Saint Teresa of Calcutta Medal – Mother Teresa – Silver-Plated ZAMAC – Made in Italy – 1″

She saw Christ where others sometimes struggled to look. Among the hungry. The abandoned. The dying. The unwanted. And in serving them, Saint Teresa of Calcutta spent her life answering one of the Gospel’s most demanding invitations: to recognize Jesus in the least among us.

This Saint Teresa of Calcutta Medal, honoring the religious sister known throughout the world as Mother Teresa, is a high-quality, Italian-made Catholic devotional medal crafted from silver-plated ZAMAC, a durable metal alloy composed primarily of zinc. Unlike inexpensive lightweight aluminum medals, its more substantial construction gives it the traditional character of a devotional medal while remaining compact enough for everyday wearing or carrying. Each medal measures approximately 22 × 15mm, or about 1 inch tall, and weighs approximately 2 grams.

Born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in Skopje in 1910, the future Mother Teresa entered religious life while still young and eventually traveled to India as a member of the Sisters of Loreto. For years, she taught at a Catholic school in Calcutta. Then came what she would describe as a “call within a call.” Mother Teresa became convinced that Christ was asking her to leave the relative security of the convent school and serve Him among those experiencing extreme poverty. In 1950, she founded the Missionaries of Charity. Their mission centered upon serving people who were hungry, homeless, abandoned, sick, dying, or otherwise pushed to the margins of society. The congregation became recognizable throughout the world by its simple white sari with blue borders. Behind the international recognition, however, stood a deeply Catholic spirituality.

Mother Teresa’s service to the poor flowed from her love for Jesus Christ, particularly her devotion to Him in the Eucharist and her meditation upon His words from the Cross: “I thirst.” She understood that thirst not simply as physical suffering but as an expression of Christ’s thirst for souls and for human love. Her spirituality was also profoundly shaped by Christ’s teaching in the Gospel of Matthew: what is done for the least of His brothers and sisters is done for Him. The person lying forgotten in the street was therefore not an interruption to the Christian life. That person was an encounter with Christ. Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, but worldly recognition never became the measure of the vocation she proposed. Her message remained remarkably simple: begin with the person God has placed before you. A meal. A clean bed. A hand held beside someone who is dying. A small act performed with love.

After her death in 1997, her private writings also revealed the profound interior spiritual darkness she endured for much of her life. Yet she continued to pray, serve, and remain faithful—a dimension of her life that gives particular depth to her witness of perseverance. Pope Francis canonized her in 2016 as Saint Teresa of Calcutta.

A Saint Teresa medal is not a lucky charm. Like other Catholic sacramentals, it serves as a tangible invitation to prayer and to imitation of Christian virtue, ultimately directing the faithful toward Jesus Christ and the love of neighbor He commands. The silver-plated finish gives this medal a classic Catholic appearance suitable for wearing on a medal chain or incorporating into Rosaries, chaplets, bracelets, keychains, and handmade devotional gifts. Its compact one-inch size also makes it convenient as a pocket medal or an addition to a prayer card, Rosary pouch, or Catholic gift set. Made in Italy from silver-plated ZAMAC rather than lightweight aluminum, these medals are particularly meaningful for Catholic retailers, parish ministries, charitable organizations, healthcare and outreach ministries, missionaries, religious education programs, retreats, and Confirmation gifts.

Wear one. Carry one into the work of the day. Give one to someone whose vocation is spent caring for others. For Saint Teresa’s life reminds us that the opportunity to love Christ may sometimes arrive without grandeur. It may simply arrive as the person standing before us who needs to be loved.
