Saint Carlo Acutis Medal – Silver-Plated ZAMAC – Made in Italy – 1″

He wore sneakers, enjoyed computers, played video games, spent time with friends, and grew up surrounded by the technology of the modern world. Yet at the center of Saint Carlo Acutis’s remarkably ordinary young life was something ancient and enduring: a profound love for Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

This Saint Carlo Acutis Medal honors the young Italian Catholic whose witness has resonated especially with young people, families, students, and Catholics seeking to live an authentic life of faith in the digital age. Made in Italy from silver-plated ZAMAC, a durable metal alloy composed primarily of zinc, it offers a more substantial traditional construction than inexpensive lightweight aluminum medals while retaining a compact size suitable for everyday devotional use. Each medal measures approximately 22 × 15mm, or about 1 inch tall, and weighs approximately 2 grams.

Carlo Acutis was born in London in 1991 to Italian parents and grew up primarily in Milan. From an early age, he demonstrated an unusual devotion to the Catholic faith, particularly to the Holy Eucharist. He attended Mass frequently, prayed the Rosary, went regularly to Confession, and developed a deep conviction that friendship with Christ should shape the ordinary circumstances of daily life.

Carlo’s holiness did not require him to withdraw from the modern world. He was interested in computers and technology and possessed skills that would become an important part of his apostolate. Rather than viewing technology simply as entertainment, Carlo recognized that it could become a tool for sharing the faith.

One of his best-known projects was the creation of an online exhibition documenting Eucharistic miracles reported throughout the world. Carlo researched and organized information about these events and used his computer skills to make the material accessible to others. The project reflected the devotion that stood at the center of his spiritual life: belief in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

A saying frequently associated with Carlo expresses this devotion beautifully: “The Eucharist is my highway to heaven.”

At the same time, Carlo understood the dangers of allowing possessions, popularity, or technology to control a person’s identity. He encouraged young people to become the persons God created them to be rather than simply copying everyone around them. His life demonstrated that computers, games, friendships, school, and ordinary interests need not compete with holiness when they are kept in their proper place and ordered toward what matters most.

Carlo also showed particular concern for people who were poor, lonely, bullied, or marginalized. His Catholic faith was not confined to the computer screen or even to the church building. It appeared in the way he treated the people around him.

In 2006, at only fifteen years old, Carlo became seriously ill with leukemia. His illness progressed rapidly, and he died on October 12 of that year. He offered his suffering to God for the Church and the Pope and was later buried in Assisi, a place he loved because of his devotion to Saint Francis.

Carlo was beatified in Assisi in 2020 and was canonized by Pope Leo XIV on September 7, 2025, becoming Saint Carlo Acutis. His canonization has strengthened his place as a particularly compelling patron and example for young Catholics growing up amid social media, smartphones, gaming, computers, and the opportunities and distractions of digital life.

A Saint Carlo Acutis medal is therefore especially meaningful for children, teenagers, students, young adults, programmers, technology users, Catholic content creators, and those devoted to the Eucharist. It can also make a thoughtful gift for First Communion or Confirmation, where Carlo’s example provides a distinctly contemporary reminder that sainthood is not something belonging only to distant centuries.

Like other Catholic sacramentals, this medal should not be regarded as a lucky charm or an object possessing independent spiritual power. Its purpose is to encourage prayer, recall the witness of Saint Carlo, and direct the heart toward the source of the faith that shaped his short life: Jesus Christ, especially present to the faithful in the Holy Eucharist.

The silver-plated finish gives this medal a classic Catholic appearance suitable for wearing on a medal chain or incorporating into Rosaries, chaplets, bracelets, keychains, and handmade devotional gifts. Made in Italy from silver-plated ZAMAC rather than lightweight aluminum, it offers a more substantial construction while remaining conveniently sized for everyday wear, carrying as a pocket medal, or including in a Saint Carlo prayer set or Catholic gift box.

Carlo’s world looked remarkably similar to ours. There were computers, entertainment, friendships, schoolwork, and countless demands competing for attention. His answer was not to reject the modern world, but to keep Christ at its center. His life remains a compelling reminder that holiness can begin exactly where we are, using even the tools of our own time to lead ourselves and others closer to Jesus Christ.
