Mary of Nazareth, the mother of Jesus Christ and therefore, because Jesus is truly God, rightly called the Mother of God or Theotokos. Catholic doctrine honors her as ever-virgin, immaculately conceived, assumed body and soul into heavenly glory, and the foremost disciple of her Son.
