Miraculous Medal Blue Glass Bead Rosary and Box – Made in Italy – 14″

Blue has long belonged naturally to Marian art. It recalls the mantle seen in countless paintings of the Blessed Virgin—a color that has come to suggest fidelity, purity, heaven, and the quiet beauty of a life given entirely to God.

This Miraculous Medal Rosary and Box brings that Marian color into a coordinated devotional set featuring a 14-inch blue glass bead Rosary and matching blue Miraculous Medal box. Made in Italy, the set provides both a beautiful instrument of prayer and a dedicated place to keep it when the final prayer has been said. The devotion of the Miraculous Medal traces its origins to Paris in 1830 and the Marian apparitions reported by Saint Catherine Labouré, a young member of the Daughters of Charity. Catherine described a vision of the Blessed Virgin standing upon a globe, with rays streaming from her hands and a prayer surrounding her:

“O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”

A medal was subsequently produced according to the design Catherine described. On its reverse appeared a rich collection of Christian symbols: the letter M beneath the Cross, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and twelve stars. The medal spread rapidly throughout the Catholic world and became popularly known as the Miraculous Medal. Catholic devotion does not treat the medal as a charm or as an object possessing magical power. It is a sacramental associated with prayer, trust in God’s grace, and confidence in the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Like authentic Marian devotion itself, its purpose is ultimately to draw the faithful closer to Jesus Christ. That makes the Miraculous Medal a natural companion to the Holy Rosary. The Rosary leads the faithful through the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries of Christ’s life. Mary accompanies the prayer, but Christ remains its center—from the Incarnation and Nativity through Calvary, the Resurrection, and the glory of heaven.

This Italian-made Rosary features blue glass beads, giving the prayer beads a luminous Marian character while providing the smooth, substantial feel of glass beneath the fingers. At approximately 14 inches, it is conveniently sized for personal prayer and storage within its coordinating box. The accompanying blue Miraculous Medal box gives the Rosary a dedicated home between prayers. It also makes the set especially suitable for presentation as a Catholic gift, eliminating the need for a separate Rosary case or gift box.

Its combination of Marian imagery, blue glass beads, coordinating box, and Made in Italy origin makes this set particularly appropriate for First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Baptism, OCIA or RCIA reception, Marian feast days, Mother’s Day, birthdays, and other Catholic occasions. It can also become a meaningful first Rosary for someone learning the devotion or a beautiful addition to an established collection of Catholic sacramentals. The box holds the beads. The beads carry the prayers. And the prayers lead through the mysteries Mary treasured in her heart— toward Jesus Christ, her Son.
