Description
Pontifical Incense – 1 lb
A Traditional Church Incense for Sacred Worship
Bring the ancient tradition of incense into the sanctuary with Pontifical Incense, a classic incense blend prepared for use in Catholic churches, chapels, religious communities, and other sacred settings. Presented in a distinctive gold-tone container, this traditional blend offers an appropriate choice for parishes seeking incense for the solemn beauty of the Church’s liturgical celebrations. Throughout Sacred Scripture and the Church’s liturgical tradition, rising incense has served as a powerful sign of prayer ascending before God. Used with a thurible and properly prepared charcoal, Pontifical Incense contributes fragrance, visible rising smoke, and ceremonial dignity to worship.
Incense for the Sacred Liturgy
Pontifical Incense is well suited for use during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction, processions, funerals, solemnities, feast days, and other occasions where incense is used according to the liturgical rites. The loose incense blend allows the sacristan, priest, deacon, or server to place an appropriate amount upon prepared charcoal within the thurible, releasing its fragrance as the incense burns.

A Sacred Tradition of Prayer
Incense has accompanied worship for centuries, its rising smoke providing a visible expression of prayer, reverence, and offering. Within Catholic liturgy, incense may be used to honor the altar and cross, the Book of the Gospels, the Blessed Sacrament, sacred ministers, the faithful, and the bodies of the deceased according to the rites of the Church. Pontifical Incense provides parishes with a traditional loose incense suitable for maintaining this venerable practice within the sacred liturgy.
Ideal for Parish & Sacristy Supply
Packaged in substantial 1-pound cans and supplied in case quantities of six, Pontifical Incense is particularly suited to parishes and religious institutions that use incense regularly throughout the liturgical year. Keep it among essential sacristy supplies for major solemnities such as Christmas and Easter, Eucharistic celebrations, Benediction, processions, funerals, and other liturgical occasions.
Use & Storage
Use only with a suitable thurible or censer and properly prepared incense charcoal. Add incense in an amount appropriate to the vessel, setting, and liturgical celebration. Store the container securely closed in a cool, dry location away from heat, flame, and moisture. Incense and burning charcoal should always be handled carefully and used with appropriate ventilation and supervision.
