Saint Peregrine Medal – Silver-Plated ZAMAC – Made in Italy – 1″

There are moments when prayer becomes very simple. Strength for today. Courage for tomorrow. And the grace to place what cannot be controlled into the hands of God. For generations, Catholics facing cancer and other serious illnesses have sought the intercession of Saint Peregrine Laziosi, whose own story of illness, suffering, repentance, and trust has made him one of the Church’s most beloved patrons of the sick.

This Saint Peregrine Medal is a high-quality, Italian-made Catholic devotional medal crafted from silver-plated ZAMAC, a durable metal alloy composed primarily of zinc. Unlike inexpensive lightweight aluminum medals, its more substantial metal construction gives it the traditional feel of a devotional medal while remaining compact enough for everyday wearing or carrying. Each medal measures approximately 22 × 15mm, or about 1 inch tall, and weighs approximately 2 grams.

Born in Forlì, Italy, around 1265, Saint Peregrine Laziosi lived during a period of considerable political conflict. According to tradition, the young Peregrine initially opposed the papal cause and encountered Saint Philip Benizi, a Servite priest who had come to preach reconciliation. The encounter changed him. Peregrine eventually experienced a profound conversion and entered the Order of Servants of Mary, or Servites, devoting his life to prayer, penance, service, and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Later in life, Peregrine developed a severe disease in his leg. Tradition holds that the condition became so grave that amputation was planned. On the night before the procedure, Peregrine prayed intensely before an image of Christ Crucified, entrusting himself completely to God. The following day, the condition was found dramatically improved, giving rise to the longstanding Catholic devotion to Saint Peregrine as an intercessor for those suffering from cancer, serious disease, and chronic illness.

His story is therefore not merely about illness. It is about what a person does in the presence of suffering. Peregrine prayed. He persevered. And he placed his hope before the Crucified Christ. Today, Catholics commonly ask Saint Peregrine to intercede for those undergoing cancer treatment, surgery, prolonged illness, and other difficult medical circumstances. His medal may be worn or carried by someone who is ill, or given by a family member or friend as a quiet assurance that the person is being remembered in prayer.

A Saint Peregrine medal is not a medical treatment, nor does it promise physical healing. It should never replace appropriate medical care. Like other Catholic sacramentals, its purpose is to encourage prayer, strengthen hope in God, and remind the faithful of the communion of saints and the presence of Christ amid suffering. The silver-plated finish gives this medal a traditional Catholic appearance suitable for wearing on a medal chain or incorporating into Rosaries, chaplets, bracelets, keychains, and handmade devotional gifts. Its compact one-inch size also makes it convenient to carry as a pocket medal or include with a prayer card or spiritual-bouquet gift. Made in Italy from silver-plated ZAMAC rather than lightweight aluminum, these medals are particularly suitable for Catholic retailers, hospital and healthcare ministries, parish prayer groups, Rosary makers, clergy visits, care packages, and gifts for those undergoing difficult periods of illness.

Sometimes there are no easy words. So we pray. We remain beside those who suffer. And with Saint Peregrine, we place our hope before the Cross of Jesus Christ.
