The worship due to God alone in recognition of his supreme majesty, goodness, and sovereignty. Catholic theology traditionally calls this worship latria. Eucharistic adoration is the worship of Christ truly present in the Blessed Sacrament outside the celebration of Mass.
Religious honor given to saints, relics, or sacred images in recognition of God’s grace at work in them. Veneration is essentially different from adoration, or latria, which is due to God alone. Catholic tradition accords a unique, higher veneration to the Blessed Virgin Mary, commonly called hyperdulia.
