The branch of theology that studies the Blessed Virgin Mary in relation to Christ and the mystery of the Church. It treats doctrines such as Mary’s divine motherhood, perpetual virginity, Immaculate Conception, and Assumption, as well as her role in salvation history and Christian devotion.
