An efficacious sign of grace instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, through which divine life is dispensed to the faithful. The Catholic Church recognizes seven sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.
